Oh, boy, was it cold! But it did not dampen enthusiasm as Germantown residents came out in droves to participate in the 5K Candy Cane Run/Walk, afternoon parade and Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony. Kiwanis was there to feed the hungry crowds.
Spirits were amazingly high for this year’s Germantown Holiday Festival, an event that is put on by the Germantown Chamber of Commerce. The turnout for this year’s celebration, held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, actually eclipsed last years numbers in spite of the cold weather.
As always, the Germantown Kiwanis Club was present the entire day serving hot food and drinks to the crowds gathering in front of the Germanown library in village square, the center of all the action on Saturday. The Kiwanis club served coffee and hot chocolate all day, and their ever popular bratwurst, hot dogs and hamburgers fueled the crowds through the day.
Kiwanis also had their float in the parade to advertise their big upcoming event called Breakfast With Santa, December 14, 2014. The K-Kids and parent chaperones rode the float and handed our flyers for the event. Breakfast With Santa is the area’s largest holiday event featuring an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast and an opportunity to take pictures of your family with Santa and Mrs Claus. They say Santa may even bring his reindeer to the event.
You can buy discounted tickets in advance by dropping in at Aldo’s Pizza and Pub or at the First Bank Financial Centre here in Germantown.
There are opportunities for other sponsorships by Germantown organizations and businesses. Click this link to read about some of the opportunities to participate in this event and be recognized by the Germantown community.
