Taste of Germantown

 Taste of Germantown

The cool sound of jazz music wafted along the south side of Firemen’s park as the alluring smell of barbecue filled the air, and you just couldn’t have asked for a better evening for a June turnout as Germantown Kiwanis and U.S. Bank hosted their Taste of Germantown community Get-Together. Area restaurants and eateries presented their fine fair while the crowds were entertained by local musical groups on Thursday, June 18 in the park.

The U.S Bank Taste of Germantown will be a monthly event this summer with Germantown Kiwanis and U.S. Bank combining to bring this fine event to the Germantown community. The first Taste of Germantown for 2015 was themed “Jazz in the Park”, an opportunity for Germantown residents to enjoy great music, plus great food in our local park. It was the kickoff event for the Germantown Kiwanis this summer to raise money for the Gehl Foods Performing Arts Pavillion. Three local groups performed; the All Star Jazz Crusaders, WAM (Wisconsin Academy of Music) Jazz Ensemble, and G’Town Dixielanders.

Other Taste of Germantown events planned by U.S. Bank and Germantown Kiwanis include the “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” baseball tournament, July 16th, when the Germantown Fire Department baseball team and other local teams will compete in a one-day tournament to raise money for an Honor Flight for Germantown area veterans. Once again, area restaurants and eateries will provide a Taste of Germantown experience and music will be provided by area groups.

Then on August 13, 2015, U.S. Bank and the Germantown Kiwanis will present “A Celebration of Summer” with plenty of food and entertainment by Germantown area performing arts groups. The Taste of Germntown series was started by Germantown Kiwanis in 2014 to bring attention to their efforts to build a Performing Arts Pavillion in Firemen’s Park. This year, U.S. Bank has become involved in planning Taste of Germantown events each month during the summer season with family events for the whole community to enjoy.
